Soothe your followers with a relaxing spoken word poem featuring soft sounds and comforting captions. Using the Premiere Pro speech-to-text feature, you can create captions from your audio with just a few clicks.
Before you start, open the practice file we provided.
Note: Project files included with this tutorial are for practice purposes only.
Take a one-minute look at our technique; the steps are written out below.
Step 1: Enter the Captions workspace.
Start with your audio and video clips in the timeline. Choose Window > Workspaces > Captions to open the Text panel.
Step 2: Turn your audio into a transcript.
In the Text panel, under the Captions tab, click Transcribe Sequence. In the Create Transcript dialog box, select the audio track you want to create captions for, then click Transcribe.
Step 3: Create your captions.
Once the transcript appears, click the Create Captions button. You won’t need to make any adjustments in the dialog box, so just click Create.
Step 4: Play on words.
After the captions appear, you’ll be able to make changes to spelling, punctuation, and line breaks by double-clicking them. You can even split captions if you want them to appear separately on the screen.
Step 5: Give your text some flair.
You can make changes to the style of your captions by adjusting the settings in the Essential Graphics panel (Window > Essential Graphics). See the choices we made below.
Step 6: Set a soundscape.
Once you’ve stylized the captions to your liking, you can add a background music track. In the Essential Sound panel (Window > Essential Sound), filter Adobe Stock tracks by mood or genre. We chose the Relaxing mood and found the Ambient Sun track to suit our needs. Once you’ve chosen your music, drag it to your timeline. You can adjust the clip volume in the Edit tab.
Step 7: Resize your frame.
If you need to change the aspect ratio to fit your preferred output, your captions will automatically resize to the new format. Just right-click the sequence in the project panel and select Auto Reframe Sequence.
Step 8: Fine-tune the reframing.
Select your Target Aspect Ratio. We used Vertical 9:16 for mobile. Adjust the Motion Tracking to Slower Motion so the video looks smooth. Then click Create.
Take your poetry to new places.
Now you can export your video to share on social.
