Magnus Breum is the lead graphic designer at COLORROOM, a production company based in Copenhagen, Denmark. He specializes in designing artwork for the music industry and has also done product design and art direction on bigger projects. His style is colorful and he likes to challenge the traditional way of doing things.
Need help getting started? Check out these tips on how to customize Breum’s album art templates. To use the same fonts he uses in his layouts (Uniwars Regular and Interstate Compressed Regular), activate them for free on Adobe Fonts so they’re added to your account.
Grab their attention.
A small title can make a big impression. To change the placeholder text, double-click the T thumbnail on the Text layer and start typing.
Make it about you.
Swap out the template’s placeholder photo with your own. Double-click the Photo layer’s thumbnail to open the Smart Object in a new tab at the top of the screen. Then choose File > Place to add a new image. After you save the change and close the tab, you’ll see your new image appear in the layout with Breum’s effects automatically applied.
Control the blur.
The Photo layer with effects applied has an overlapping-circles icon. Click the small arrow beside the icon to see a list of effects that you can choose from on the layer, and then double-click Blur Gallery to adjust the effect.
In the Stars template, try moving the pins to work with your image, and experiment with options like blur amount and noise. Click OK at the top of the screen to commit your changes.
