A beautiful background. A heavy dose of drama. A touch of mystery. With Photoshop, you can blend elements from different images to create a scene that inspires wonder.

See how masking tools help you make it happen.

Cut it out.

With the Object Selection Tool, simply click on an element within an image layer to select it. Hold shift to select other objects on the same layer. Then click the mask icon at the bottom of the Layers panel to mask (hide) everything else. Boom.

Get into the details.

The Select and Mask workspace gives you precision without a lot of effort. Let the Refine Edge Brush do the work for you, masking out tricky areas like hair or tight spaces.

Brush it off.

Going for a softer edge? You can always create an empty layer mask and use a brush to paint a dreamy transition between images.
