Embrace the groovy world of color. Latvian creative agency Supply Family have created a set of free gradient maps, along with a custom Photoshop file, to give your photos an extra artful touch. Below, they’ve used images from Adobe Stock to show the effect — try some out for yourself, or experiment with your own snapshots.
Grab the assets and transform your photos with these simple step-by-step instructions.
Install the gradients.
To get started, you’ll need to first download Supply Family’s CC Library of custom gradient maps. Next, head to Photoshop to import them by going to Window > Gradients. In the Gradients panel, click on the menu icon > Import Gradients. Locate “Discover – gradient maps by Supply Fami-ly.grd,” then double-click the file to install the gradients.
Prep your workspace.
Open the file “Discover-gradient-map-effect-by-Supply-Family.psd” in Photoshop. This will be the main workspace for your design.
Add your artwork.
To apply the effect, click into the Layers folder labeled, “Add your design in this folder.” Then, add a Layer inside the folder, and import a photo or image of your choosing. Note: the Layer con-taining your image will need to be placed on top of the the default example image shown. (Need a brush-up on Photoshop Layers? Don’t sweat it: We’ve got you covered.) Ta-da! Your photo should transform instantly.
Bonus: Switch up your gradients.
Play around with additional Gradient Map presets to further personalize your creation. In the Layers panel, click into the Layer labeled Gradient Map. Then, in the Properties panel, click on the gradient to load the Gradient Editor. Open up the folder labeled “Discover – gradient maps by Supply Family” and choose one of the six custom presets.
