Are you ready to sell your photos or art online? Congratulations! Now it’s time to help potential customers imagine your work on their walls.

We’ve collected five scenes with prominent picture frames. Each file is set up so it’s easy to drop your own artwork into the frames. In a few more steps, you can also change mat and frame colors.

STEP 1/4

Choose your scene.

The link to one scene is at the top of this page. You can download four more scenes with the link in the Resources section on the left.

Open any of the files in Photoshop and double-click the “Mat and art” layer. Because the layer is a Smart Object, it will open as a new file.

STEP 2/4

Add your image.

Drag your artwork into the new file to place it on a new layer sandwiched between the Mat layer and the “Place your art above” layer. If your image doesn’t fill the blue placeholder, grab a corner of your artwork to size it up or down.

STEP 3/4

Recolor the mat.

The mat is a neutral white. To change its color, double-click the small white rectangle in the Mat layer to open the Color Picker. For a harmonious look, hover your mouse over your artwork and click to apply the color to your mat. To choose another color from the artwork, hover over another area and click again.

Save and close the second file; now your artwork is in the original file.

STEP 4/4

Recolor the frame.

Does the original frame color set off your artwork? If not, go to the Frame color layer and double-click the rectangle on the left to open the Color Picker and choose any color you like, including one from the artwork itself.
