Tutorials
Follow Elke’s editing process in Adobe Photoshop Lightroom with these quick video tutorials.
Get inspired.
Keep it fun for your furry friends.
Not all animals want to play ball all the time. It’s really important to make sure your subject is happy because, as Elke says, “It only works when they enjoy themselves. Some dogs are interested in noises. Others need a treat or a toy. If a cat decides that 15 minutes is enough — that’s it.”
Practice, practice, practice.
When Elke first started, she committed to “a picture a day” project. Every day she had to share a photo with the public. It meant she just had to keep on snapping. The more photos she took, the more she developed her skills — so don’t be afraid to just start.
Bring out their personality.
Elke believes, “Every single pet has a personality. And I think that’s the most wonderful thing about pet photography.” She relies on her editing process to really bring this to life: “From the very first day, I used Lightroom. I add contrast, I change colors, and I make sure the pet is the star of the image.”
