Transcribe the audio.

When using transcription, you create a searchable source of text that you can use to add clips to your timeline. Try out the Text-Based Editing workspace, which is optimized to edit the transcript while watching your story come to life.

Label the speakers.

In the Transcript tab, you can rename the speakers in each clip so it’s easier to make sense of a complex assembly built from a variety of source footage.

Build your sequence.

Search the transcript text for content you want to use. Then select the text and insert the clip into the sequence.

Rearrange and trim the dialogue.

Cut and paste text within a sequence to reorder clips on the timeline. Or select a portion of text you don’t want and simply delete it to shorten the clip.

Remove pauses in speech.

To remove a pause, click the pause brackets […] and press Delete — or remove all pauses with bulk delete. And to dial in your deletion, adjust pause detection to pinpoint only specific length pauses.
